Mayday Parade Music Video NOT April Fools Prank
Apr 4th
Last year RockStopScene reviewed Mayday Parade‘s second studio album, Anywhere But Here. I was tempted to give it a score of 7/10, but in the end, a very high and respectable 6/10 seemed more fitting. Regardless of the score I gave it, I still listen to the album regularly, and Kids In Love is my favourite song of theirs (A Lesson in Romantics not-withstanding) so when I found out it was their next single, I was. . .pleased.

Many good bands experiment with genres other than their own from time to time, right? Yes, and it is with this seemingly taut ideology in mind that I feel justified in allowing RockStopScene to experiment in its own way. Here is my review – if you could call it that – of the ‘somewhat’ recent Movie: 2012.
Mayday Parade – Anywhere But Here

First albums are somewhat similar to the first line of a review. Their role is pivotal, and they are really hard to conceptualise. But, luckily for Mayday Parade, their debut: A Lesson in Romantics was great. Let’s not beat around the bush, what made that album special was the song writing. The lyrics were on the better side of pup-punk standard, and the instrumentation was unique enough to separate the band from the pack – ALIR is an album that defined Mayday Parade and gave them some well deserved exposure. Somewhat unfortunately though, the chief song writer for the band – Jason Lancaster – left shortly after the album was released, essentially draining everything that made the band great, and leaving them as a sort of – ‘empty shell’.
A Day to Remember – Homesick

Ah, yes, I remember it fondly. My transition from Pop music to Rock was one of the best things that happened to me. Rock music is great. We all know that. Its scope is so wide, that just about anyone can find something they like within its confines. The first time I listened to the Pop/Punk goodness of the original Fall Out Boy, and that fateful day I stumbled upon the barrage of Pop/Rock energy that is Paramore. It was awesome. But what about after that? What if whale-proportioned choruses and squeaky-clean vocals just don’t cut it any more?
Now, my friend, is your time to cut across into the sharp and jagged territory of the heavier stuff, and A Day to Remember is a damn good way to start.
