Dear Jamie…

Hey hey rockers!
I’m sure the British amongst us will have read or at least acknowledged the ‘Dear Deidre’ section within the Sun newspaper. A place for people with a ‘troubled’ love life to gain comfort from Deidre’s reassuring words/advice. Based on this same ideology, I thought it’d be good to follow the same sort of route, where as you submit your questions to me in the comments below and they shall be answered the following week – time permitting!
So to kick off the shenanigans I’ve decided to trawl the web, my mind, and the back of a cereal box to gain questions, answers and an overall more comprehensive, sarcastic view of the rock genre as a whole….
Things you need to know before reading:
- pc4pc = Picture Comment for Picture Comment.
- A basic grasp of grammar-less writing.
Dear Jamie,
Short question, yet I wondered if you had any idea where the band Maccabees derived their name?
Cheers.
Mr R. Ocker
My Response:
Hi Mr. Ocker!
Many thanks for the question.
Our good old friend Wikipedia says:”The band came up with the name by flicking through the Bible and picking out a random word” despite the fact that “none of the band are religious”. Yet religious connotations aside, the food franchise McDonald’s in England has the slang name of ‘Maccydees’, notice the similarity? Coincidence I think not… Taking bets on the next album being called ‘Quarter Pounder With Cheese?’
Dear Jamie,
I’d love to know what your favourite rock video of all time is!
Miss Anne Teak.
My Response:
Hey Anne Teak, it’s quite rare to see you on here!
If I was the average blogger I’d probably go with one of 30STM video’s as they’re normally produced pretty epicly. But being the person that I am it has to be the one, the only, Fred Shred a.k.a Shred Durst: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UQ_ZhC-1CU
After watching that inspirational video, I felt the urge to pick up a guitar and shred away. If only this sudden outbreak of ear ache would go away….
Dear Jamie,
i wonDERDZ if u’z found any ov mah latest trakz on myspac, tru nd to da point ‘teh teddybearz all went 4 a picnic yetz only 1 of dem cn tke a prper myspac pic, guezz which 1‘ woz releazed on da 29th jan 4 yearz 2day. criticz hav bin ravin all ova bout da album – even in da mosh pitz, so wot d’ya think?
luv nd kisses
charlie chaotic
xoxo
My Response:
Hi Charlie,
Your right, that song name really was short, conceise and straight to the point. The lyrics whilst being harrowing, and a true reflection of modern day life, do have that fantasy element that’s been missing from the ‘scene, scene’ (how ironic) for a very long time. From the first line ‘all da gurlz luv mah emotinal side’ right down to the finale of ‘pc4pc mah picz bbe’ I really was in floods of tears.
I can also see why the critics have been “ravin” I must admit that during the playing of your song I must have smashed at least 3 light bulbs – one more then my Nintendo Wii record! The constant euphoria and energy your songs provide really can’t match anything, not even the ever so delightful ‘Big Fish Little Fish’ song, the sole reason that I’m currently working in a cardboard box factory.
SERIOUS PART
Dear Jamie,
I’m considering giving to charity; any ideas?
My Response:
If it’s a rock related answer you want, then it would definitely have to be purchasing Afterlife from this Sunday as a tribute to ‘The Rev’ - More info here: Link. Yet we can’t forget the tragic Haiti event, I can’t imagine how difficult what they’re going through right now is. So please people if you do have some spare money then visit here: Link and donate as much as you can!
I know I’ve ended quite suddenly and on a serious note, yet as much money they can raise for both campaigns the better!
Thanks for reading the article everyone, and don’t forget to check back same time next week for another: Dear Jamie!

Dear Jamie,
I was wondering, if charlie chaotic and amy anthropy are in the woods, while no one is around, do they still strike a scene pose?

Dear Jamie,
What is your favourite band at the moment and what song by them do you recommend?

Dear Jamie,
If you could change your name to anything in the world, what would it be?
