Reachback – Will They Shake Up Your 2010?

“What makes us different is that we combine all different styles from rock, pop, punk and heavier music into one” explains Reachback dynamo pocket-rocket vocalist Ruby. “Also having a girl fronted band pulls us apart from the others!” Although in today’s age it’s often hard to decipher whether a female fronted band is trying to copy that Hayley Williams-esque Ruby was quick to state: ” personally Paramore have had a massive influence on me but to stay away from the cliche Hayley williams I’ve brought my own style.” True to her word Ruby can be seen sporting an Iron Maiden jumper on the image to the left, a garment that’s totally opposite to what pop-rock princess Hayley portrays herself as.
Whilst only having one song on their Myspace “Hands Up Hearts Down” the bands official Youtube page also features a cover of the energetic pop song “Just Dance” made famous by the fabulous Lady Gaga. However, we do have to ask with only one song easily accessible on their plain Myspace, when are they hoping for their new songs and a flashy updated page to be out? “We are going back to the studio very soon to record a new ep and the new Myspace will be ready in a matter days so keep your eyes pealed” answers the band.
No different to any other rock outfit Reachback have some big goals and ambitions for the future. “Our long term goal is to have released a number of EP’s / albums and to have toured throughout the country.” Even more so they plan to take our picturesque nation and turn it on its side. “We want to have toured throughout the country and have made a fuss in the UK.” Yet why stop there? As Ruby swiftly adds “and outer countries.”
And what better way to finish off an introduction article then with a smart and quirky snippet from their biography:
“Delivered with a rapscallious,

… the general consensus is … like an orgy in a VW camper van ….

Lecarla – Silent City

Lecarla have always undoubtedly had the rock star-esque image to platform themselves into a career laired with a persistent entourage of teen admirers’ destined to remain with the band for the ‘long haul’. Perhaps this is also the same uncanny similarity which entwines Lecarla’s zestful energy amongst the ‘early’ Paramore roots and the success of their arguably now classic ‘Misery Business’.
The quartet’s latest effort Silent City builds upon the success of their first EP Uncovered as well as introducing a new and competent Metal melody. Long gone are any signs of previous miniscule sound engineering faults to deliver an even more prismatic and lustrous CD than ever before.
Bursting in with an iridescent euphoria of churning guitar rhythms matched equally with frenzied drum blasts, “DILLIGAF” proves itself worthy of that heavily sought after EP opener; even lead vocalist Lizzy affirms her competence after initial ‘flat’ notes by producing a commendable u-turn midway through the track showcasing just how intensive her vocal range can be.
Cogent lyrics ‘this is a violation’ of “Violation” ultimately barge down the elusive barrier between band and fan interaction, allowing for mass lyric hymns at each and every U.K venue visited. Couple this with the distinctive male Screamo vocals from drummer Stephen North alongside Lizzy’s tenacious, awe-inspiring lead and the most superlative track has just been unveiled.
Final three tracks “Cities In The Sky”, “Obstacles & Runways” and “This Is The Interval” equally do justice by tweaking niggles and evolving strengths from their previous EP – indulging in the same iconic pop-rock vocals with a fresh metal infused tone to please both new and old fans alike.

My Passion the Marmite of our society. You either love them, hate them, or stalk them… lets just hope it’s not the latter!
However, one Facebook user who seems to lack a caps-lock key went one step-further and created the “i hate my passion” group.
Fans are in arms regarding the situation and have since retaliated with a series of comments in support of the band. As you can imagine this has also been met by the haters comments which have so far been in the form of misconstructed sentences.
Regardless of whether you like the band or not – we don’t believe the groups creator was quite braced for this…

With a line up already boasting IRON MAIDEN, RAMMSTEIN, MÖTLEY CRÜE and SLAYER amongst others, SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH has announced another seven fantastic acts, showcasing the diversity and range of music it has to offer.
A welcome addition to the SONISPHERE line up, in their seven years FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND have chalked up some amazing statistics: the band have sold considerably more than a million records; all four of their albums have gone into the UK Top 20; they have three Gold records; have graced countless magazine covers, been the subject of broadsheet profiles and tabloid features; their tours sell out the nation’s larger venues in a matter of minutes; worldwide – from America to Russia, Singapore to Australia, Japan and beyond – they have a following more loyal than bands considered their equal. And, most importantly, they rock.
Making their SONISPHERE debut this year are British Rockers FIGHTSTAR. 2009 was a hugely successful year for the London four-piece – a top 20 album with their third and most successful record, “be human”; two sold out headline tours which included Shepherds Bush Empire in November; an appearance at T4 on the Beach, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and the iTunes festival as well as having 4 singles playlisted at Radio 1. Their MySpace site has racked up 2.2 million profile views and the band drew huge crowds at the Download and Reading and Leeds festivals. In the eight years between 2001 – 2009, SKUNK ANANSIE left a gaping hole in the UK rock scene, so we’re delighted that these recently reformed rockers will be joining the SONISPHERE 2010 KNEBWORTH line up. The multi-platinum selling act came crashing onto an unsuspecting rock scene back in 1994 with what lead singer Skin labelled “Clit-Rock” – described as an amalgam of heavy metal and black feminist rage. They went on to conquer the world with their unique style, with their impressive live show securing nominations at various awards ceremonies. Unless you’ve had your head buried in the sand for the last three years, GALLOWS is a name synonymous with attitude, aggression and hardcore punk rock. Since 2007, the fearless FRANK CARTER and co have punished music fans the world over with their refreshingly real take on punk, earning a reputation as one of the most formidable live acts on the scene. Like the demented grandchildren of SONISPHERE stage sharers IGGY & THE STOOGES, GALLOWS promise to bring an element of danger to the weekend’s proceedings, as they spit out tracks like “Abandon Ship”, In The Belly Of A Shark” and Top 40 single “Staring At The Rude Bois”.
Flying in from Chicago, MADINA LAKE bring their catchy blend of pop-punk and alt-rock to the SONISPHERE stage. Since their first outing here, the band’s rise in the UK has been nothing short of spectacular. First hitting the UK in support of Paramore in late 2006, the band found themselves selling out the very same venues they were opening at mere months later, and the success story snowballed from there. Gracing numerous magazine covers, securing BEST INTERNATIONAL NEWCOMER at the 2007 Kerrang! Awards and subsequently appearing on the 2008 Kerrang! Tour, by the time 2009’s “Attic’s To Eden” was released, MADINA mania was unstoppable, and shows no sign of stopping as they make their way to SONISPHERE 2010 – apparently a lifelong dream for bassplayer MATTHEW LEONE:

Family Force 5 is one of the great success stories of artist development in contemporary music today. Formed initially as a tribute to last year’s SONISPHERE headliners METALLICA in 1993, APOCALYPTICA have become leading force in their own right. Armed with three cellos and a metal-as-hell drummer, APOCALYPTICA have become a firm festival favourite, as they offer alternative takes on bands such as METALLICA, SEPULTURA and PANTERA, as well as their own material. Don’t let the presence of classical instruments fool you – these Finns play hard and heavy, and will have no problem working up a frenzy amongst those in attendance.

Susan Boyle To Join Fall Out Boy?

Yes, whilst Kerrang! reports that Mark Hoppus and John Mayer were joining Fall Out Boy turned out to be fake – http://www2.kerrang.com/2010/02/mark_hoppus_and_john_mayer_joi.html we thought that Britan’s own Subo would be perfect for the role of both vocalist and bass!
The singer who was once dubbed the ‘hairy angel’, wears fake £10 Burberry scarves and pops out 80′s dance moves like there’s no tomorrow seems the perfect candidate for the job. Crowd favourites such as Dance Dance which often saw Wentz dance like a geek on 20 sports drinks a day would prove an easy ‘challenge’ for the Scottish 48 year old.

Aside from the obvious problem of Susan not being trained in the art of the bass – which could easily be amended with some ‘training’ from Wentz – after he’s learned of course. Many of FOB’s songs would also have to be renamed. As we’re so nice we decided to help the band out a little and brainstormed some potential ideas…
- XO would become Subo
- Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner Would Become Nobody Puts Susan In The Corner
And at that point our creative juice ran out; don’t you just love procrastination?
Of course one of the issues with not being a mass media institution is the fact that we couldn’t contact Subo to see if she would consider our idea.
Therefore I pose the question to you FOB fans – or even people who want FOB to turn ‘metal’ – would you put Subo in FOB and if not who would you put in to make the ultimate band?
Already one FOB fab fan known as Jay contacted us saying: “I’d listen at first to see what it sounded like, then I’d probably cry because Patrick is an awesome singer and Subo is just old and generally annoying.”
