The All Star Years’ Single called ‘The Chance’


Todays post is about an extremely popular Australian band called ‘The All Star Year’ With their Myspace statistics showing over a staggering 1.6 Million Total MySpace plays you know it’s only a matter of time before their fame spreads world-wide. Now you’re all mesmorised it’s time to hand you over to the Q&A’S!


Q1. So guys, tell us a bit about ‘The All Star Year’ Where did the name come from? And how did the band form?

We are basically a group of guys who grew up in the 90’s pop punk scene and we never really grew out of it! We’ve all played in bands before and as they came to an end we decided to form a band that made us remember the old days of running around beaches and skate parks, pipped up on cherry coke and loving life. The name came from a Wheeties box, True story!

Q2. I notice your extremely popular in Australia. Are the band one day hoping to tour outside Australia when they’re popularity in places like England increases?

Yea for sure! We love England. You guys have football (GO ARSENAL!!) AJ barracks for Man United but we all know what that means. We would love nothing more than to jump on a plane and head over to cloudy London to play a sold out show at Wembley!


Q3. Do your songs try to give off a message at all? Or are they just lyrics that sound good together?

You can’t write any good music without some sort of attachment or meaning to it. Even a drum beat is inspired by maybe 50 different albums, a year of life and love and 1 crappy engineer. But in all seriousness, we write about life. We are life writers baby!

Q4. For any bands just starting up, what advice would you give them?

Yep, Be a professional cowbeller first. Thats where Chung started and then he added 1 drum at a time! But really, you just have to love what you do. There is no sick leave, the pay is very average and you really have to love writing music to be able to get up on stage every night and sweat it out to a crowd that might not even like your music. But if all else fails, sneak behind the bar and down a few pints before you get kicked out!

Q5. What’s the weirdest/funniest thing that’s ever happened to the band? Either what someones said or gave you.

Nothing someone’s said or given us could amount to driving down a major highway on a tour and feeling a clunk, then looking outside the window to see the wheel of the trailer overtaking the car down the highway! That was hilarious and frightening at the same time.

Q6. Do you guys ever search yourself on the internet? Come on be honest :P

Pffft. Please. We’re professionals. But you can find exclusive pictures of AJ being raped by a real life wild panda on Google though!

Q7. And finally when are you guys hoping to get some more songs released?

We’re always writing, recording, re-writing, etc. We will be twisting a few things up and releasing some new material in the not too distant future.
