Don’t let the happy name fool you, this band have been described as one of the ‘Fu**ing heaviest bands you’ve ever heard’, in fact I’d go as far to say as they’re the next Cradle of Filth.

Ok, if any of you believed the above I’m either a great liar or you’re extremely gullible. The Sunshine Getaway are actually pop-rock, and the best way to describe them would be ‘Britamore’.  ‘Britamore’? I hear you exclaim. I’m sure some of you will remember Lecarla, the band we deemed ‘Britain’s answer to Paramore‘, since then Lecarla have gained an unprecedented amount of success including the ever-so-prestigious Kerrang. It just so happens British The Sunshine Getaway sound even more reminiscent of Paramore; especially their early demo tracks such as ‘Hello Hello’ and ‘Another Day’. Thus I coined the word ‘Britamore’ to refer to any band within Britain (obviously) that have that like-able Paramore twang within them.

Being completely honest The Sunshine Getaway aren’t going to win any originality awards, but they don’t need to. When you consider how many bands within the mainstream rock scene sound like Kids In Glass Houses there really is a lack of bands that are similar to Paramore. Although saying that The Sunshine Getaway do have a few differences; some killer off-hooks that wouldn’t be found in a Paramore song appear in TSG’s song ‘Find Me’ as well as different inspirations within their lyrics.

We caught up with TSG who told us: ‘What motivates us is the desire to inspire others as we have been by musicians ourselves- best feeling ever is to play in a town we’ve never been to before and see people singing along. We all play for the love of it and want to quit our 9-5 jobs and one day be on the road for a living!’

When asked who some of their biggest influances were they replied: ‘We’re influenced by many things, musically 30 Seconds To Mars, Fightstar and Search The City. Bands we have made friends with would play just as big a part, such as Out Of Sight, Tell It To The Marines and We Push Buttons to name a few.’

And via the use of my Crystal ball (the bands Myspace) I predict that February shall be both a hectic, yet rewarding month for the band. A big UK tour coinciding with their new single release will show if the band really do have both the cool and financial budget  (let’s face it, it’s a tough time for all of us) to survive within the rock genre. Only time will tell, so watch this space people! – But In the meantime check out the bands Myspace below!
