Alas, the festive period has gone. Say goodbye to that tree, and hello to a few new pounds! But it’s not all doom and gloom, we’re here to brighten up your lives, excite your eardrums and ultimately make 2010 your most rocking year yet!

So to give you a head start we’ve compiled our  ‘Top Five Bands to Watch out for in 2010′, a mixture of small signed, and unsigned bands that we believe are on the brink of exploding on to the Rock scene this year.

5. DissolvedIN

‘Pop-rock was so 2009′, and many of you will be glad to know it’s also ‘so 2010!’  DissolvedIN a band hailing from the mighty depths of  Reading have notched up a staggering 40,000 MySpace friends and show no signs of slowing down yet. What the profile lacks for in aesthetics is made up for in good, raw, talent. The song ‘First Impressions’ shows promise of the typical pop-rock lyrics that are both addictive and ‘down to earth’. Since the break-up of bands such as ‘Go Audio’, and the hiatus of  ‘Saving Aimee’ a very clear and distinctive gap has been left in the market for DissolvedIN to fill.

4. She Screams Remedy

America is often considered somewhat the ‘oyster’ of the music world; with a vast quantity of the music we listen to being imported from there. Yet have you ever asked yourself what’s actually ‘so good about it?’ I know I have, and it’s bands like ‘She Screams Remedy‘ that reassures me all the music I’m listening to actually isn’t ‘overly-edited rubbish’. With strong vocal performances coming from two singers; ‘Kyrsten Gammon’ and ‘Trevor Koch’ matched with an equally divine Myspace and fan-base, prospects look extremely positive for the band.

3. Jody Has A Hitlist

Upon downloading three of the bands tracks I must admit I was skeptical. Very few bands who release their songs for free are actually ‘decent’ but  ‘Jody Has A Hitlist’ actually took me by surprise.  The vocals are probably some of the strongest I’ve heard from an unsigned band, with an exceptionally talented drummer. Admittedly higher guitar levels, and overall more presence would be beneficial, but definitely not needed for the band to be a success in 2010.

2. Kill Casino

Underwatterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!… I’m sure most of you would of heard that lyric some place before, search deep within your minds; think sexy women, up-beat tempo, sexy women again, infectious lyrics. If you still can’t think, and didn’t get the hint in the first word, the song is in fact ‘Underwater – Kill Casino‘.  The band, who gained a vast amount of success with Kerrang in 2009 and having various 2010 Fightstar support slots lined up already, show a positive outlook for the year, and above all sexy women in their music video! So make sure you check them out… NOW!

1. Young Guns

The first time I heard of ‘Young Guns‘ was with the announcement of the Kerrang Tour line-up, ever since then I’ve constantly seen ‘Winter’s Kiss’ receive countless amounts of plays, and I actually love it. Unlike songs such as ‘Nickelback’s – Rock Star’ which got extremely annoying from the word ‘DFS’, ‘Winter’s Kiss’ actually appears to get better with each play as apposed to worse. The excellent choice of setting goes well with the song, and overall makes for an interesting and unique video. British acts often find it hard to break through the international sphere but I have no doubt that with countless amounts of effort ‘Young Guns’ will actually achieve this goal. We hotly tip that this is one of the biggest bands to watch out for this year, so keep your eyes, and most importantly your ears alert!
