You Me At Six
In a tranquil and halcyon 2008 an inspirational and mind broadening event was about to shake the bare foundations of the industry and change this peaceful, idyllic setting into a eardrum bursting plethora of goodness. The reason why my friends is not because of it being the Beijing Olympics or the uproar surrounding the Hadron Collinder but the year that a small band from good ol’ Surrey released their album ‘Take Off Your Colours‘.
So what have they got planned for me in 2010? ‘Hold Me Down’ of course. No no don’t worry, the band aren’t planning to hold me ransom in return for some chocolate coins (at least I hope not anyway). Instead they’re filling our skinny jeans with a brand new album that, by the sounds of the two songs ‘The Consequence’ and ‘Underdog‘ released so far, is proving to be just as addictive and enslaving as it’s predecessor.
Having a portfolio boasting of the Slam Dunk Festival, and supporting rock giants Paramore, it’s easy to see that You Me At Six have grafted their way to the top and gave nothing but dedication. Consequently it’s also just as easy to see why Josh gets angry on his Twitter at shows like the X Factor offering an ‘easy’ way for ‘wannabees’ to reach critical acclaim: “PLEASE GO AND BUY RATM SINGLE FOR XMAS NUMBER 1!! I JUST DID! FUCK YOU SIMON COWELL!”
I’m calling on you devoted readers this Christmas and new year to support your unfortunately declining Rock industry. You alone are the only ones who can stop the decline ending up into a black abyss of doom; Converse will be swapped in favour for musical shoes that only play Disney themed songs. Skinny jeans will be renamed Happy beans in fear of offending anyone non ‘skinny’, and studded belts shall instead have no studs in case of injury.
Ok maybe that was a bit over the top, yet still the industry is becoming more and more commercialized and politically correct by the day. Bands such as YM@6 who worked hard to get where they are today need your support to thrive and flourish so they can inspire many of the bands banging their head against the MySpace door to never give up no-matter how hard it seems to break through to success.
If you’re interested in joining the RockStopScene campaign starting soon to get the album to the top of the chart’s then contact me via the link at the top of the page!
